Three Day Holiday
By rberry on May 25, 2009 in Uncategorized
I always begin each long weekend with vigor. I think I’ll have plenty of time for everything. But this afternoon as I watch the day fade into blues and grays I’m cognizant of the fact that I did not accomplish all that I needed. I am truly sad that another day fades into oblivion and I march towards death (as do we all) without getting things done again! No new poem…no new pieces to my novel…no edits for my fellow writers in this group. I always feel full of ideas. I don’t suffer from writing blocks either. What I suffer from is a lack of time. More honestly, maybe what I suffer from is a lack of proper motivation.
So this evening I am forcing myself to delineate a handful of moments daily for creation with my art medium…the written word. It doesn’t matter that life gets in the way. I have to elbow it out of my way…take it by the throat and throttle it into submission. I do it everyday in the classroom (ok, not literally)!
We each bring a different perspective to life, and very different styles of written expression. Yes I refer to the members of this group, but I also mean everyone on this planet. With the miracle of technology (and, yes, I think this blogging and googling and twittering is miraculous) there is so much to learn and observe and share. I can not let life get in the way anymore. I believe that no one should.
On that note (since blogging is about sharing my thoughts and artistry) I’ll leave this electronic landscape with something I did write one bleary morning not long ago. Perhaps it’ll inspire someone else to creativity before yet another day has slipped mercilessly away.
The harbor draped
by a fuzzy afghan of fog.
Over its waters a meadow of mists
undulates across its breasts
birthing ridges and vales
that yesterday did not exist.
A mystic fairytale landscape
closely clasping its secrets
from the scrutiny of the sun.
One more thought…thanks Cindy for getting this set up and making it easier for those of us more technologically challenged to jump on the bandwagon.
And yes everyone…I’ve been using ellipses in a grammatically incorrect manner, but, in case no one’s figured it out yet, I like to buck at the rules quite frequently!
